Why do freelancers fail?
Why do people think that freelancing in Pakistan does not work?
In my opinion, for many reasons, this observation is correct; however, I would like to talk about offering digital freelance services on marketplaces and advocating why everyone should try it.
The growth perspective:
In August 2021, Pakistan's technology exports were recorded at $224 million, according to MOIT (Ministry of Information and Telecommunication). Exports in the same month last year were $124 million. Over 80% of the increase has been reached, and forecasts anticipate a further increase in the same month next year. During the current fiscal year, IT exports total over $2 billion, whereas the same number was recorded at $1.44 billion last year (fiscal calendar 2019-20).
It is the freelancers who are playing a huge role in orchestrating these phenomenal numbers. The Digiskills program alone has remitted over $200 million so far. As a freelancing industry, it is clear that everyone benefits from it.
If you are disjointed, it's because you can be excellent at tech but not at communication and business development. Sales are ART - it isn't natural.
The majority of people fail (for the following reasons):
- Lack of time discipline ( Bidding, finding clients, and searching on different marketplaces all take up the same number of hours).
- Lack of patience ( You will be competing with the best of the best, so be patient. A good communication skill makes your job much easier ).
BUT, wait a minute…
You think freelancing is a waste of time since you can't find buyers for your services. What you really need to worry about is how you locate those buyers who are looking for you?
What is the solution?
There is a simple answer to the question. Freelancing can be viable in the long run with the greatest return on investment (time and money) by changing the mode of work.
How about making clients approach you directly rather than you looking for them?
I suggest, alongside freelancing Hustle, that you do...
- Make a website, advertise on Google for freelance-related keywords.
- Set up a Facebook, Instagram, and LinkedIn account.
- Promote your work constantly. Stay consistent. The sky is the limit once it kicks off, but patience is required.
- Find multiple sources of income.
- Consider affiliate marketing in the same skill set you offer as a freelancer.
- Blogging + YouTube (both show positive results next to each other) are good examples.
- Extend avenues of services (think product).
- Launch a startup, hire, thrive, and grow quickly.
In the process, it is important to cement a strong place on a number of platforms Various social networking sites.
