Bill Gates is now the 4th richest man in the world

Bill Gates held the title of the richest person in the world for many years. After his tenure as CEO of Microsoft ended, he became no longer the richest person in the world. Elon Musk and Jeff Bezos topped the list on the leaderboard. Now that Bill Gates is finally divorced after 27 years of marriage, he is the 4th richest person in the world. After getting shares transferred as part of a divorce settlement, Melinda Gates is estimated to be worth $5.7 billion. Forbes estimates Gates's worth to be $129.6 billion. Melinda Gates received nearly $2.4 billion in stocks from Bill Gates' investment company on Thursday, Bloomberg reported on Monday. Melinda owns 8.8% of AutoNation in accordance with SEC filings. She received 3.3 million shares of the company.

In 2000, Bill Gates had an affair with a Microsoft employee, which led to the two splitting up. The Wall Street Journal reports that the board investigated the affair in 2019. Following the investigation, Gates announced his resignation in March 2020. The reason for the resignation was not associated with the investigation itself. Currently, the world's largest philanthropic organization, Gates Foundation, was founded in 2000 by Bill and Melinda Gates.
